With BERBERA, Nissaba honors the Horn of Africa through its sacred resins—incense, myrrh, and opoponax. Named for Somaliland’s windswept port, where desert meets sea, the fragrance echoes the journey of these precious gums—from sun-drenched landscapes to the ateliers of Paris, Grasse, and New York.

Description

An amber woody incense with the finest gum extracts from Somaliland. A resinous, captivating and sophisticated scent. Powerful and long-lasting. It can also be used for layering, as is common in the Middle East. A very 'niche' fragrance for lovers of subtle scents. This deep, mysterious and intense fragrance uplifts and purifies the soul.

Olfactive Pyramid

TOP -  A superfluid extract of spicy incense meets resinous elemi and a duo of nutmeg and black pepper essences.

HEART - Leathery, powdery incense enhances warm myrrh.

BASE - Pyrogenic incense gums with amber facets enrich a superfluid extract of Somali opoponax.

Key ingredients from the Origin

Olibanum

Harvested in the arid, rocky regions of northern Somalia, particularly in the Puntland area, Somali incense is a natural resin tapped from the Boswellia carterii tree. Incense from Somalia is less spicy than the incense from Oman (from Boswellia sacra tree)

Myrrh

Sourced from the wild-growing Commiphora myrrha trees in the plains of Somaliland, an historic hub for the trade of myrrh, dating back to ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Arabian civilizations.

Opoponax

Somaliland is one of the world’s premier sources of opoponax, also known as sweet myrrh. Gums are harvested from the Commiphora guidottii tree—a close botanical cousin to myrrh.

'Berbera is an inspiration to travel and mystery. I hope that when you smell this fragrance you'll enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it'. Fabrice Pellegrin.
